The 8 Most Curious Dog Breeds

The 8 most curious dog breeds

You probably already know that variety is the order of the day within the canine world. There are big dogs, very small ones, some extremely intelligent and others full of energy. Below is a list of the eight most curious dog breeds in the world, most of which will likely be unknown to most readers.

The Puli

This dog is known for its agility in sheep control and as a police dog. It is  a beautiful dog, patient and calm, although being full of energy it will need to do a lot of daily physical activity. Its coat is of various colors, from faded black, to white, to cream. There is also a gray variety, although it is very rare to encounter it.

It is a dog that generally gets along very well in the family, especially with children. He tends to bark, a characteristic that was necessary when he had to warn of the presence of some predator; however, he does so only in the presence of strangers, when he listens to noises he is not used to or if he wants to call your attention.

The Cambodian Razorback

This dog of Asian origins may appear normal to the appearance, but it is distinguished by the characteristic tail that takes on a curious pom-pom shape, as well as having a thicker fur crest than the normal fur, which overhangs its back. This breed needs to be socialized well as they tend to be extremely territorial. With its owners, however, they are very tender and affectionate.

A particular aspect of this breed is their coat, which is somewhat longer than the norm for dogs from tropical climates. However, they are dogs that adapt well to this type of climate, and although they are very common in Cambodia, it is not easy to find them in other countries.

The Bergamasco shepherd dog

The appearance of the Bergamasco dog is rather strange, in fact it has a thick, rather long and wavy coat that falls back forming some kind of waves. It is a shepherd dog from Italy which does not present many examples today, as it has not continued the domestication for the purpose of herding; it is considered one of the less extensive breeds in the world, as it is difficult to find it even in its native country, Italy.

The Xoloitzcuintle

Xoloitzcuintle

This breed from Mexico is characterized by the absence of hair, an unusual phenomenon in dogs. Despite this there is a variety of Xoloitzcuintle with fur, so within the same litter it will be possible to find puppies with or without fur. It also varies in size, as it can be found in medium, miniature and toy sizes. The larger variants, especially the medium size, are used as police dogs, while toys make excellent companion dogs.

The Affenpincher

As with most pinchers, this is a small, playful, bratty dog. It is characterized by its thick, hard and apparently scruffy coat. It was initially domesticated to hunt mice and other plagues, and is a very protective breed of dogs, although due to their size they could not be used as guard dogs. However, he is a good hunter and enjoys the company of man.

The Lagotto Romagnolo

lagotto-romagnolo

This small and active dog is recognized worldwide as the only dog that specializes in hunting for truffles. It was domesticated to search for these precious mushrooms and is therefore unique in the world. Despite its size it is an energetic dog, with an excellent sense of smell, strong and ready to work. He is a great companion for those with energy and time to spend with him.

The little lion dog

This dog is small and has one of the strangest furs, with thick and thick fur on the front but with almost bald back areas. It may resemble the coat of a poodle, although in this case it is smooth, similar to that of lions. It is a very intelligent and affectionate dog, and is recognized as an excellent pet.

The Bedlington Terrier

This dog is small in size and possesses strong hunting instincts, especially of rabbits. It is a fast dog, with a muzzle similar to that of the bullterrier, only in this case its hair is long and curled, with a kind of plume right on the “trunk”. Generally speaking, they are sociable dogs, although due to their hunting instincts it is better that they come into contact with other animals only after having been subjected to all the vaccinations.
