Negão, the best employee of a gas station

What would you think if one day you went to get gas at a gas station and found a four-legged employee? No doubt it would be very funny and curious. This is what people who see Negão probably think, a dog who has a job he is proud of.

Negão and his employment in a gas station

Clients wonder what a dog employee can be like. It’s a little weird, actually, but everything changes when they see it in action. Negão can take care of the distributor without problems and this has earned him the title of “best consumer service consultant”.

The story of this particular worker began two years ago. A woman named Sabrina Plannerer decided to buy a gas station under construction along with her partner. The petrol pump is located in the Brazilian city of Mogi das Cruzes.

When they arrived at the construction site, they realized that there was something in addition to the contract. There was a four-legged tenant who had been abandoned by his owners. The couple could not abandon him or take him to a shelter, as they had apparently been living there for a long time.

Sabrina decided to adopt him immediately. They offered him all the necessary care, including a visit to the vet to vaccinate him and carry out an anti-parasite treatment. They bought him a bag of food, a special kennel and a leash to take him for a walk.

The “gas station” dog

When the service station finally opened, Negão (which means “black” in Portuguese) had a new home. He was surrounded by love and… he had a job! When the owners of the petrol pump noticed the dog’s charisma towards people, they decided to include it in their business.

According to what they say, the little dog has a natural talent: to attract customers. For his work at the distributor, they gave him a document that identifies him as an employee of the commercial area. Also, it is considered the best with regards to customer attention, as it always wags its tail and greets passers-by.

The landlady states that she is waiting for a car to arrive, and approaches to say hello. Some regular customers bring him toys or sweets. Negão has become the advertising image of a Grupo FERA foundation, which aims to find a home for stray dogs thanks to the support of local businesses. According to the association’s spokesperson, people greatly appreciate a four-legged colleague because it makes work more enjoyable.

Bring the dogs to the office

There are more and more companies that allow their employees to bring dogs to the office. They do this to reduce stress and enjoy a more productive day. According to a study from the University of the Commonwealth, Virginia, United States, workers who share the day with a dog find the hours at their workplace more satisfying and return home more relaxed and happy.

Allowing pets on farms improves mood and reduces anxiety. The good news is that the benefits don’t just apply to the dog owner, but also to his colleagues.

One research analyzed the mood of a group of factory workers who were allowed to take their pets with them. According to the study, which lasted a week, employees’ stress levels had dropped. At the same time, job satisfaction, engagement and support among colleagues had increased.

Over the course of the day, people seemed happier and less tired when they had the company of a dog. Having a pet in the workplace is a great benefit because it fosters collaboration between colleagues, reduces tension and increases productivity.

As long as the dogs are polite, do not attack or bark, and behave well around strangers, a company can allow its employees, one day a week, to take their pets to visit the office, shop or factory.
