You can buy just one and put it in a busy room, like the living room or living room (but the kitchen would be the best room in the house). These birds are very cheerful and can even learn to pronounce a few words. Males are more likely to talk, while females are very good at whistling.

In case you want to get a pair of wavy parakeets, there would be no problem getting two males, although they probably won’t be able to learn to speak. On the other hand, it is impossible to put two females in the same cage, in fact, from adolescence, they would not stop fighting with each other.

Once you have decided to buy a parakeet, you must pay close attention to some factors that reveal the health of the budgie. First of all, the plumage must be smooth and must not have bald areas.  If there are any cavities or if it can be pulled out of the cage easily, it means that it is sick. It must also be capable of making small flights inside the cage.

The plumage around the anal orifice cannot be dirty and the droppings must be compact. Make sure that the beak does not have cracks and that the beak orifices are well cleaned so that the parakeet does not emit unpleasant noises while breathing. Also check the claws and paws, they also need to be clean.

Make sure your wavy parakeet is in good health. It is better to buy a young animal. Once you get home, you must leave the wavy parakeet quiet for two weeks to allow it to get used to the environmental conditions of the new home. It is appropriate that these days, the wavy parakeet is not let loose.

What care does the wavy parakeet need

The first precaution concerns the position of the cage. It must be placed at eye level of the owner, in a bright room, free from drafts and must not be exposed to direct sunlight. The cage must always be clean and the remains of feathers or excrements must be removed regularly.

Efforts must also be made to keep the room clear. Clean the floor, removing feathers, food remnants and waste to avoid the transmission of diseases. The cage must be large, the animal must be able to make small flights. It can also be left free in the house, as long as there is no cat around.

The diet of the wavy parakeet is based on millet, oats and hemp seeds  , the latter in small quantities. They can also ingest fruit and vegetables, which provide vitamins and minerals and small doses of calcium, a very important substance in the period of reproduction.

Always leave plenty of food and water in the cage. The best time of day to introduce it to the new home is at sunrise or sunset, in fact, in these moments, the wavy parakeet is more receptive.
